Corrective Tattooing

If your not happy with a tattoo your had done in the past, corrective tattooing is what you need.

Not all cosmetic tattoo work goes to plan.

Sometimes the shape isn’t right. Colour fades into strange tones. Brows sit too high or too heavy. Eyeliner spreads. Lips heal unevenly. Or the work was simply done years ago with older techniques that don’t hold up today.

Corrective tattooing means it does not have to be forever

Corrective tattooing exists because these situations happen more often than people realise.

Kevin works with clients who already have previous permanent makeup and want it improved, softened, reshaped or corrected. Every correction case is different. Some are simple adjustments. Others require multiple stages. Occasionally removal or lightening is needed before new work can begin.

The first step is always assessment. Pigment depth. Colour tone. Skin condition. Scar tissue. Previous technique. All of this determines what can realistically be achieved. Not everything can be fixed in one session, and honesty at this stage matters.

Common corrective situations include:

Corrective tattooing isn’t about covering mistakes with more pigment. That often makes things worse. It’s about neutralising tones, adjusting structure and working with the skin carefully so the final result looks balanced.

Kevin’s experience as a tattoo artist gives him an advantage here. Understanding pigment behaviour in the skin — how colours shift, how depth affects longevity — is critical when working over existing work. Guesswork leads to more problems. Technical understanding leads to solutions.

Colour Neutralisation

Some Corrective tattooing involves colour neutralisation first. For example, warm tones to counteract grey or blue pigment before new colour is applied later. This staged approach produces better long-term results.

Clients often arrive feeling frustrated or nervous after a previous bad experience. That’s understandable. Correction requires patience from both practitioner and client. Results improve gradually, not instantly.
Healing is part of the journey. Pigment softens. Skin settles. Adjustments are made at follow-up sessions. The process is controlled rather than rushed.

In some cases, Kevin may advise partial removal before correction. That decision depends on how much pigment is present and where it sits in the skin. Clear guidance is provided so expectations are realistic from the start.

The goal isn’t perfection. It’s restoration. Bringing features back into harmony so the work disappears into the face instead of standing out.
When corrective tattooing is done properly, people stop noticing the tattoo and start noticing the person again.
